hello I am new to this site and to 4x4s , I have a 2003 f-250 SD FX-4 4x4 , when i bought the truck new it had the heavy service suspension package, I just bought new 16x8 rims and BFG AT 315,17r,16 tires $1100 ouch !!! when I mounted the new tires on my truck and turn my wheel all the way 1 way or the other thay rub the plastic fenderwell just barely, but thats sitting still, i dont do any hard core fourwheeling just some miner stuff around the hunting lease !! my question is will a 3 inch body lift take care of this rub ?or is there a better or cheeper way to fix the problem ? ANY ADVICE IS VERY MUCH WELCOME !!! thanks in advance guys , Gordon Geisler P.S. the 4x4 place sais lift would cost $800 instaled is that about right ?
Youd be much better off just putting on a 2.5 or 3" hanger leveling kit. Go to the superduty forum and do a search on it.. you will find tons of info. They will also be MUCH cheaper than 800$ and a lot safer, especially if you plan on having the truck for a while.
thanks for the help 02 superstroker !!!! ive read so much my eyes are burning lol this is a great site !!! I do have another question , what exactly is the factory heavy servise suspention package? what do thay do ? is it just a adda leaf to gain more heighth? thats what the guy at the 4x4 shop told me and i realy dont know ???????? I just want my tires to fit under my truck without giving up my first born!! ok enough whining , back to reading hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!! thanks again
I did not see if your truck was a diesel or gasser. From what I've learned you can't put a body lift on a diesel, it has something to do with the downpipe from the turbo. Anyhoo, as stated a hanger kit would be ALOT better than a body lift. And cheaper.
oh yea I forgot to say !!! my truck has the 5.4 gas , I dont think IM gunna do the body lift !!! still dont know what to do , Ifr thay put the hanger leveling kit will i need to do something to the rear ?
as my truck is pritty level now ,

you can't put a body lift on diesels b/c of the intercooler pipe. you can't stretch it. but if you don't have the turbo you have nothing to worry about. just get the body lift for the f-350 with gas
ok I think iv made up my mind !!! gunna go with a 3 inch suspension lift on my 2003 f-250 4x4 , 5.4 gas , will the 3 inch lift take care of the inner wheel well rub with 16x8 rims and bfg a/t 315-75r-16 tires ???
3" lift (suspension is only way to go) will solve your problem as long as the backspacing is right on your new wheels. You might be able to do some minor fender trimming to get them to fit. My dad has a '00 Super Duty and all my neighbors have them too, my one neighbor runs 35" tires with a 6" lift and its a naughty truck. I have a '99 F-150 as my daily driver and I run 33x12,50s on it stock with no problems and I flex it alot. I am sure you could get those 35s to work on the stock suspension as long as you don't flex it alot.
