Thumbs down I lost my Speedo!

Yeah, I searched the forum, but only found "erratic speedometer" problems.

I lost my speedometer, odometer, and tripometer completely. So far, I've replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). I'm going to check the voltage from the PCM as soon as I get ahold of a meter.

Anything else I should look for?

lost speedo

I had the same sort of problem on my 1995 Mazda B3000. It was the GEM (General Electric Module) Think thats what it stands for. Its behind the radio, real easy to change yerself. The part is darn expensive....
Hope that helps...

Your signature still exists.
Run your cursor over to "signature" and it will appear in a little blue box!

Hey guys, there's a wealth of knowledge and experience on this board. Someone's gotta have an idea for me.

Update: I've replaced the Speed Sensor. No Joy. I'm not throwing any codes, and there are no special lights lit.

Question: How would I be able to tell if it was the Speedometer assembly itself?

When I saw your subject "I lost my Speedo" I wasn't sure if I wanted to open the thread or not. I didn't know what kind of picture I might see. Sorry I can't help.

Thanks guys... I'm starting to think that the little gear on the end of the speed sensor is the culprit... It looks ok, but the speedometer works until the car's been warmed up.

I don't know... I'm stumped.

Ok... I'm having a bit of trouble finding the little pinion gear that sits on the end of the speed sensor.

Anyone know what it's called and/or where I can find it?

Well. I finally got the little drive gear.

That wasn't it. I guess it's gonna have to go to the shop... Augh! I hate having to pay someone else to fix my stuff.

Bassguy, why not run his puppy by the likes of Advance Auto or Autozone, for a no cost computer scan, to see if maybe it can pinpoint something else for you to check. pawpaw
