How do u get the shift knob off

mine just fell off one day as i was trying to shift, i was in a hurry , my hand slammed into the dash, gear **** went flying, i almost got into an crash, i can laugh now but it freaked me out when it happened... try a heat gun on a hot day,,,,

i believe they pushed on at the factory. my **** also came off during a power shift. if you don't care if it gets damaged, get some big vise-grips on it. maybe a hammer and tap block would work too. good luck.

If you are going to pull it off, make sure when you are doing it that your face is out of the way. I managed to use the two-handed approach and got it between the eyes. Yeah it was stupid, I know.
