Is the big "air bleed off sound" normal after the Tymar install? I did the "unhook the waste gate" and it still does it. When I get on it hard on a take off it spools up great, but when it levels out, I get a big bleed off or vacuum sound and it keeps it up until I completely let off the pedal and pick it back up. What's up? Just want to make sure this is or is not normal.
i see you have a chip as well, what you are most likley hearing is call "compressor stall" or "compressor surge" it happens when you start putting power adding mods on these trucks. over time it can be harmful to the turbo. if you put in a "wicked wheel" about $70.00 or an aftermarket turbo housing about $400.00 you can you can cut it way down or even get rid of it all together
ps. i like truck, take a look at my gallery...look familiar?
Fordafied,
I installed the Tymar about 20 K miles ago and did notice a great increase of suction sound when speeding up and what sounds as an air release when shifting into next gear, especially when stepping on it. I don't think it's hurting anything, if I'm wrong someone let me know. I'm on my second Donaldson filter now with no other engine mods as of yet.
wlihntr- thanks, I like the looks of your truck also.
99PDSCREW- it does sound more like a suction that is open.
johnsdeisel- I don't think it is the turbo, The sound of the turbo has not changed that much. The sound really becomes noticeable when the turbo is letting off. More like when I am letting back off the pedal. I do know that I am getting some surge. I do plan on doing the WW when I put the 4" exhaust on.
Thanks Guys.
Why does my sig. appear on the preview but not the post.
Hey Johnsdiesel.......do you have the wicked wheel with your Tymar? Did it solve the problem for you or is it just throwing money at trying to fix something that can't be fixed?
