Thermostat?

I just bought a 95 350 with 200K miles several months ago. When I took it to a shop to replace the glow plugs, the tech showed me where the tie rod ends were worn out. I had noticed in the few weeks I had driven it that it was very sloppy and it had a ton of play in the wheel. I had also noticed that when I drove down the road, say a straight one at better than a piddling pace like an interstate, that I had to keep the wheel turned to the right, as if I were turning almost. So I thought, "Ah ha, so that is what it is," and OKed the 'surgery.' I have the truck back now, they wound up replacing the tie rod ends, center drive line (term?) and the drag chain, and aligned the tires. And there is no difference. Still tons of play in the wheel and the top of it still points towards the inside rear view mirror. Is this normal? What can I do about the play, because I am going to be pulling a horse trailer and it would really suck if it still drove this way...

Thanks
J

Crap...wrong issue. But same place also put in a thermostat that had been removed, and said it would help with the mileage. True? The guy I bought it from removed it, and I'd like to strangle him. But now I just want to know exactly why he might have done it, because she never overheats; also, I have not noticed it improving my mileage either. Thanks. And if you want to answer the above, please do. Ugh, I feel retarded...

The thermostat would help your mileage during the winter months. You might not show much of a improvement during the warmer months.

I'd check the steerinng shaft inside the engine compartment and see if the linkage is loose or if the rags are shot.
