Question Bugs are ruining my paint

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any solutions to prevent bugs from ruining the paint on the grill and hood. I drive in the country and have a windshield full of bugs everyday. I have a black ranger, so the bugs stains are especially noticeable. I know how to remove the bugs, but any thoughts on how to prevent them from attaching to the paint so much? I saw one product that you can apply, but it basically just seems like baby oil and I don't really want to use it if there are better ideas. Thanks for your help in advance!

Start off by removing all the stains, with Goo-Gone and a terry cloth towel. Then give hood and front end 2 coats of good wax, I like Meguires Gold Class. Finally buy, and install, a bug guard.

I've never found a product that keeps them off, but if you keep up your waxing they are pretty easy to remove when you wash.

I agree with PW01..

i had a 98 ranger xlt, and it was also black. I found that the bug guard worked petty well.

i also have a dark truck and I use a bug guard and wax the front part of my hood about every 2-3 weeks to help out. Very little problems here.

The more wax/sealant that you use the more protection that you have from the suicide bugs. You can use what ever you want, there are many to choose from. The old adage, more is better, is correct in this case.
If you don't, then the bug guts with eat away at your clearcoat/paint and then you have another problem...

Maypo speaks the truth, especially when it comes to those damn Florida love bugs!
