<$6 Oil Change
1 oil filter @ $2.50
tax - $0.43
Total = $5.88 - That's less than a Latte!
Now for all you "You get what you pay for" types, here is the best part. ALL BRAND NAME PRODUCTS
Exxon Superflo SL/GF-3 oil
Purolator Premium Plus oil filter
Man, I hate paying brand name prices.
If your engine takes 6 qts., add $0.64 = $6.52

Pepboys also has Castrol at $1.39/qt. plus you get 2 free Purolators filters ($5 value) which makes the net cost <$1/qt. for Castrol.
I've got enough oil stored out in the barn to start my own Arab country but you know, with gasoline going up, how long before motor oil goes up to? Gas is $0.50 - $0.60/qt. right now. Used to be $0.30-$0.35/qt.
Of course, the price of crude oil makes up only about 1/3 the value in the price of gasoline. Taxes are almost as much.
All I remember is that you used to be able to buy generic 10w-30 4 qts. for $1.00 and generic 10w-40 3 qts. for $1.00 in the late 1960s and very early 1970s, so $0.59/qt. is a ripping good deal adjusted for inflation and cosidering that old oil was maybe rated SA.
