I know that this has been seen befor, but I must have missed it. Will there be a problem if I have the stock muffler cut out and a pipe put in its place? Would an after market muffler be a better idea?
If you are referring to diesels, go ahead and do it. I've talked to many who have and love it. My neighbor did it and it really wasn't that much louder. Lowered his EGT a little too.
I am a new member on this site and your question caught my eye.I was very leary last year (when my truck was new) but I am a pipefitter, and was on an "all stainless" job in Texas.I couldn't resist fabbing up a section of pipe to replace my muffler. I found a muffler shop that would cut the muffler out and weld the pipe in for $25.00. It was the cheapest performance upgrade that I've done...and I've done a "few" upgrades. The engine breathes much better, and the horsepower gains are noticable.Do it to it! Jim&Deb
