fuel pressure regulator screen

I was cleaning my fuel pressure regulator screen today with a q-tip and after removing most of the gunk a chunk of what looked like a clear screen came out. Is this bad? I looked at the fuel pressure regulator screen and it was still there in one piece. Was it some sort of pre-screen? Do i really need it?

I've never heard of that happening. If the metal screen is still in place, and the truck runs, don't worry about it.

I've never heard of it either. As Quadzilla said, as long as the metal screen is there you will be fine. Maybe the plastic came with a new screen and was never removed and got lodged in the FPR. Let us know if you see any improvement with it out.

If you take off the lid to the fuel bowl there is an opening on the top/right hand side as you are facing the engine. Use Q-tips and GENTLY clean the screen.
