few wirings help please
I have swapped on a rust free cab from a '85 and i saved the '81 wiring that run through the chassis but unforunately the plugs wont just plug up.. so i cut the wires and matched a few of those colors to the cab wires that hang out,
Now, I've got 4 or 5 together but,I still have some left & I don't know were they hook up to.
I was hoping someone here tell me where to or what these wires are for.
They are as follows:
Pink/orange tracer
Blue,
Red ,
(2) Brown wire/White Stripe,
Black/pink Stripe...

You must realize you went backwards with picking a wiring harness?
The 84 will have numerous differences.
Electrical harness ?
What we need to help us.
1) What engines were in both?
2) Is this the main wiring harness under the dash,Under the hood (along firewall) ?
3) Physical Location (where along the harness) of the extra Wires?
4) Computer Box ?
We'll get to the distributor & ignition later.
All I meant is : The 85 wiring harness would have more options available than the 81 would

So, what you're saying is : You are using an 81 harness with a 85 harness plus You cut the wires to mate them because the connectors were different.
This wire cutting took place just below the firewall where the harness start to head its way toward the rear part of the truck.
Frame harness can carry :
1) Fuel tank(s) wiring
2) All tailights & marker lights
3) Trailer connections (if so equipped)
I'll have to type out the wire colours you mention and post it here, as it is really difficult to understand the way it is.
EDIT:
Pink/orange tracer {Could this be faded red (pink) with orange ?}
Blue,
Red = {Front Fuel Tank....? }
(2) Brown wire/White Stripe, {Dual-Tank Selector}
Black/pink Stripe...{to Windshield Wiper Motor}
Could this be Pink with Black Stripe instead?
{If so that is the fuel pump cut-off }
