Unhappy

Well... Its not a truck.. Its sitting in a boat.. hehe.. 7,3 litres IDI 92 model.(I think)

If you see on Stanadyne web site it says that DB-2 is for ut to 25 BHP for each cylinder and my engine is 270 hp on 8 cyls.. That makes 33,75 hp on each cyl...
I'm delivering the IP to workshop next week because the engine smokes grey/black at idle.. And ALOT of blac/brown when i increase the trotle. Wery lov power in the engine.. Injectors ar new. Compression is 490 - 510 psi on cold engine.. Turbo alpication..Aftercooler..
Wery difficult cold and warm starting.. All glow plugs are new and glow controller is og.. Glow for abaout 10 sec's and when it finaly starts its alot of black smoke. Have to run the starter for 30 sec's 3 times befor it wil start..

Hope its the IP making all the trouble..

Get someone from the injection shop to come over and check the timing on that stoopid engine. You should have enough power to turn that thing upside down when you gun it. Make sure the air intake is clean all the way to the turbo. You might have developed barnacles in the intake. Also, if you can get shore power to the block heater (if it has one). try heating that up for a few hours before initial start.

Helo again..
Had my injector pump in my hands today and turned it by hand. Diesel came out where the diesel inlet is.. Even if i turned it bouth directions.. There was a big squirt (jet) out of the inlet.. Nothing where the lines to the injectors are.
This seem strange to me.

Is this normal..??????????

yes it is normal

yes when the pump is off it is normal for fuel to come out the inlet, to get fuel out of the high pressure ports it needs to build enuff pressure to do so! it is a good sign it did push fuel out now you know the shaft is not broken and the head is not siezed up! but now i would get it into a fuel shop and have them look at it if the pump is old the advance piston and bore could be worn, among other things internally, getting it serviced could help a great deal
