2001 Ranger fuel filter
I have a 2001 ford ranger 4.0 truck I was wondering how to replace the fuel filter what kind of special tool does it take because I think I broke one of the plastic fuel line clips trying to get it off. Will I have to replace the whole line or can I just replace the end of the fuel line. If anybody knows how to replace the filter and where to get a new fuel line or a new fuel line end please tell me thanks

'01 fuel Filter
I broke two of the clips on my '01 4.0 when I replaced my filter. I cut all three the lines back about 6" and installed rubber line, attaching it with hose clamps. Someone else posted about the broken clips a while back, you might check the archives. Somebody also posted that they had done the same thing that I did. According to Ford, you are not supposed to use that kind of fuel line on our system, but I haven't had any problems and this will facillitate an easy filter change in the future. I don't like the set up with the clips, even with the tool to remove them. Hope this helps.
