i put 285 bfg's on strait from the dealer to the tire store.
ithink if they fit you need 285's. 265's will lokk like every other truck.
just my opinion, these are my third set of 285 put on my last three trucks
i specifically ordered the 17's. dealer thougt i was crazy. the rims look great and i like the oldschool look of more rubber than rim. i had the 16's on my 01 with 285's also and they were a similar deisgn rim and i liked them.
i was a little nervous as i had not personally seen the rims until the truck arrived. i jsut smiled when i saw the rims as i envisioned the improvement when i replaced thos 245 that came with the truck. that was two hrs later after going strait to the tire store.
I got the flares from www.premiermotoring.net. This site is nice because once you go to your vehicle it only displays results for that vehicle. When you get to the fender flares there are three pictures for the ford, the ones I got are the ones on the right(the large ones). They were 100 dollars cheaper than anywhere else and install went nicely. One word though they took forever to ship, frankly I did get alittle worried but all worked out.
I put 285/70/17 BFG's on mine. They look like the exact tire size that should have come on the truck. I may go with a 305 next time I blow $1,000 on shoes.
those huge wheel wells deserve 285's
but i realize the BFG's are quiet a chunk of money. the tire store gave me $75 credit toward each take off 245's that came with the truck. it was worth the difference to me for sure. like i said, 3rd set of BFG's I have had.
I just installed a set of 285/60R18 KUMHO "ECSTA STX" solid blackwall, "V" speed rated tires on tmy 2004 F-150 Lariat Supercrew 4 x 2.....on the FACTORY STOCK 18" alloy wheels that came on the "Lariat" model.....and they look REALLY GOOD.....and do a nice job of helping to fill up the EXCESSIVELY LARGE wheel well openings.
They are about 1" larger in diameter than the "stock" 265/6018 BFG Radial Long Trail TA's that came on the truck.....and they are quieter and ride better than the original BFG's.....and they have SUPERIOR acceleration, braking, and cornering performance compared to the original BFG's.....
As soon as I wash my truck, I will take some pictures of my new tires and post them in my gallery.
