Self Test diagnosis question(s)

93 F250 351 (see sig). I did the procedures (KOEO and KOER) outlined on fordfuelinjection.com because my CEL came on yesterday (off now). I did notice after I got home, that if I had the A/C on while sitting and idling, the idle would swing from 500-1200 rpms, taking about a second to rev up and a second to come back down. As soon as I turned off the A/C, the idle would stabilize at 800 or so (normal idle as near as I can tell--aftermarket tach).

Anyway, the codes I got were the 111 code for the first section (On Demand Codes), and then I got 172 and 328 in the continuous memory codes in the KOEO test, and 111 in the KOER test.

Any ideas? Am I looking at a bad O2 sensor and a bad EGR valve? How many O2 sensors does this engine have? (It's raining out right now, so I'd rather not have to crawl under the vehicle, IYKWIM).

Thanks,
Jason

I believe there is just 1 O2 sensor, located past the cats. Mine was fairly easy to remove, but I've heard some horror stories. I soaked it in PB Blaster and used a socket (If you have an AutoZone nearby, they will loan you one for free) and a big breaker bar.

Check out this thread for info on the 328. I cured a continuous 327/328 by replacing a bad EVP sensor, but introduced a KOEO 328 with the new one. I suspect it's due to the pin on the new EVP being just a tiny bit too short. This seems to be a fairly common problem.

Good luck.
