Thumbs up Bleeding Brakes...

I know I saw it on this forum,I just can't find the thread again. There was some discusion on bleeding breaks, and bleeders w/check valves in them.Someone mentioned using the spray top on a windex bottle.Well anyway...I tried the windex bottle top trick and it worked beautifully.I just wanted to say thanks,I'll keep that one in my bag of tricks for sure.

So you just unscrew the top of a windex bottle and put the end of the hose on the valve and keep squezing?

No, you need a longer line.I used a length of 1/4" nylon tubeing, connected one end to the windex spray top,and the other to the bleeder screw.Hung the line and sprayer in a bucket,Cracked the bleeder open,3 or 4 pumps on the brake peddle. The brakes bled real nice.Easiest time I've ever had with bleeding brakes.(I softend up the tubeing with a little heat before I pushed it onto the bleeder)

So the sprayer just keeps the fluid from being sucked back into the lines after you pump the brake? I have a roll of clear tubing left over from the last time I bled my brakes.

Yeah,It acts as a check valve.Although now I'm wondering if it would work as a vacuum as well.I never even thought to try spraying it.That might work too...
If anyone can find the original posting,I'd like to read it again.

If I remember right that was in the Garage and Workshop forum. It may have been in 73-9 also.
We have a brake forum also.

I found the original posting thanks to torque1st.It was posted by 3 of 7.

Pull the top off a windex spray bottle....put a peice of rubber hose from the end of the bleeder to the bottom of the white plastic tube on the spray unit and lay the whole thing in a bucket......loosen the bleeder and pump away...I haven't needed help bleeding the brakes in ten years.......This is way to simple......Just remember to throw the sprayer away after LOL
