I had my orginal battery from my 1995 F150 in the 1982 F100 and it looks like it has a problem. The green indicator light on the battery will not illuminate. Also it is only able to hold a charge of about 12.25 volts. When I tried to start my 82 F100 with that battery at that voltage it barely was able to start. Then after it was running it was only reading 12.17 so it actually went down. I thought I had a bad alternator or voltage regulator so I put new parts on. Gotta get a new battery for it. I guess 9 years old isn't too bad for a battery to last. Fred
whadda u gonna do! they just don't build'em like they used to do they? lol
although i did have one in my 82 that was in there for 6yrs then i took it out and used it in my *FORD* tractor for 5 more years.....it was still cranking when i took it out. i fiquired how much longer can it last.........
Some guys have all the luck. I'm on the third battery in my '93 F-150. But then again, I have to replace mine every four years. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and -55 degrees is a bit tough on all the parts under the hood (not to mention under the body, over the body, the body, my body, etc.). But one nice thing is that I can save the old ones and they've got lots of time left for use with my trolling motor!
