when you put enugh power to the wheels that the axle actually starts to twist against the direction of the wheels. A four link or traction bars (i think) helps prevent it.

Correct me if i'm wrong!

When your engine applies torque to the rear axle, the axle wants to rotate entirely (like a pencil in the middle of a ruler, when you turn the pencil it turns the ruler as if it were a helicopter blade) end over end. Your driveshaft is like the pencil and the ruler is your axle. It also wants to tilt upward. This upward tilt is only resisted by the springs. The springs can actually twist into an S shape. This action causes the hopping you feel under power. Traction bars, ladder bars, etc etc work to keep the axle from twisting. Things can easily break so avoid axle wrap as much as possible.
