I am in the final stages of building up my 400, and have run into a quandry. The original waterneck for the engine needs replaced, but it looks nothing like all the ones I have seen pics of advertised on eBay or other restoration companies. Jeg's and PAW don't show pics, just have numbers.
Anyway, my neck is vertical for about 2 inches, then goes out at a 45 degree angle towards the front of the engine. It also has a vacuum valve (I assume) on the top, and another plugged hole on the side.
All the ones I have seen are straight vertical only. Is there a number of different ones, or will just the 351M/400 necks only fit that engine?
I guess I am asking what you guys have on your blocks.
BTW, this forum is great, I just set and lurk, and read, and have built up my engine by letting you guys teach me. Thanks!!
my original one (though not the original engine) had a straight up short one like you see on ebay. When I rebuilt the engine, I got the real one from NAPA, which did match up with what they had for the real hose from the radiator. Using those short ones off ebay you may need to get a generic flexible top radiator hose.
