Hey everybody, I just bought my 97 F-150 4.6L last year and this is the first vehicle I've had without a distributor, I guess it's about time I jumped in to the 21st century, anyway I was wondering how often should I change them? Should I do it when I change the plugs, wires, etc.. or will they last alot longer than a distributor. I want to get this thing tuned up so I can start my own maintnence record. Oh also has anyone had a problem with the engine bucking and heisitating on acceleration?
Sorry it has taken so long for someone to reply.
The spark plugs are supposedly good for 100,000 miles but I wouldn't leave them that long. There are instructions and tips for replacing them in the FAQ's at the top of the forum.
The plug wires on these are known to cause problems sometimes too. When in doubt throw them out
Chances are pretty good that new plugs and maybe wires will cure the bucking you have.
I would also clean the MAF sensor while I was under the hood.
