My son is planning to buy an F250 or 350 SD CrewCab when his deployment ends (not before January ) . With what he's saved, bonuses, etc, he'll have a decent downpayment. Are there any benefits to him arranging the deal while he's still in Iraq (taxes, incentives, etc) or would it be the same dif (he's going to go thru the CU) if he does the deal when he's back in the States?
You can check out this website for some information on the program. They give a best price guarantee for a limited time after the vehicle is picked up. He will still have to pay taxes in accordance with the state registered.
If you bought then got deployed most lenders would defer you interest or payments while you were gone but I don't think any will offer anything special in this case. I could be wrong though.
I would call Ford Motor Credit and your local banks and ask, what could it hurt. Some might offer something. Right now FMC has still has some 0% stuff going on, what I would do is find the local office and see if they will extend that until you son comes home. Or do a per-aproval or something in that line.
It seems to be a pretty good program. The longer you have before the vehicle is picked up the more chance of getting more rebates and this is where they usually save you some money. I have a 2005 F-250 and a 2005 Escape currently on order. I will not be able to take delivery until Jun 05.
If by chance there is an exchange auto sales rep downrange then he could order the truck there for 100.00 bucks and have it delivered to anywhere in the USA. The exchange prices are usually better and they will match any dealers price and also they will lock in all incentives and rebates if any go away you keep yours no matter what, if more come up you get those too. I bought mine for 500 over invoice but could have done better through military(dipsales) sales.
when I was in Kuwait last year I ordered a F-250 just the way I wanted it. they told me it would take about 17 weeks to build. Well when I came home I couldnt wait any longer so I searched the internet for Ford dealers that had everything I wanted on my truck. I found 1, and I got it and I beat the deal the encs/exchange program was gonna give me by 6k, so I cancelled my order. the reason why I did so good was the dealer which wasnt even close to my home state was great, they signed me up for the x plan or something like that, plus they gave me all the incentives, plus a patriots discount. I got my truck for 33k and some change I will probably get my next truck from them as well or get my wife the Expy shes been wanting.
