Running under Water??????

My friend says that deisels can run under water, I didn't believe this because as far as I know engines need fuel, air, spark, exaust. Is this true? I have never owned a deisel, but I know that they are a little strange, but as far as I know every engine needs AIR!

Yep they need air,,,,But spark is not a problem. Only way they can run under water is with a snorkel

Like JoeD says you'd need intake and exhaust snorkels - but I wouldn't do it. It's $5K for a stock replacement engine.
