No more K & N filter's for the PSD
I had not see a mention of this on this board yet. Thought I would inform everyone.
K & N has pulled their panel style filters made after November 2000. Found out about this on the F-D boards and emialed K & N and it was confirmed by them. Below is a copy of the email I sent K & N and their response.

Hello,
I was using K & N part # 33-2138 in my 2001 F350 with the 7.3L turbo diesel, but I removed it. I was alerted to a problem with my K & N via an internet discussion board. K & N has pulled this part # from service for the 2000 1/2 and up F250-F350 with this engine. Ford made a minor change to factory airbox in November 2000. The newer airbox lid has a plastic standoff meant to support the factory paper filter. This standoff will eventually wear a hole through a K & N. I checked mine after only 1400 miles and it was starting to wear though already. I replaced it the factory filter and will return the K & N to the store.
Two questions:
1. I have been told that K & N is coming out with a new filter design for my truck. Is this filter out yet? If not, when will it be released. I will use my original paper filter until it needs to be replaced. If the K & N has not been replaced at that time I will be forced to buy a filter from your competition.
2. Is there a press release or any other information online that details the dropping of this filter? I would like to print this off in order to avoid some of the hassles that I will encounter when I return this filter to the store.
Thank you,
David Cole
Their response:
Hi David,
Yes we are in development on a filter for this vehicle. R&D has not given
us an ETA on the release of this filter. Hopefully it will not be too much
longer.
There is nothing on our website or in writing about why we pulled this
filter from being used on the 2001-2002 Powerstrokes. When you go to return
the filter they should not give you a hard time about returning it. If they
do have them call me at 800/858-3333 ext. 4517. Even if they will not do
the return we will do it for you. But to get your money back quicker please
go through the selling distributor.
Thank you,
