Your gonna need to get a chip burnt for your combo and bigger injectors to let the engine know it is feeding more CID's or......BOOM when she goes lean, seen it done before.
I was able to get a 451 mopar twin-turbo stroker through CT emissions testing, on the 11th time around
CT emissions standards are the same as CA, except, they didn't have the "open the hood and look" rule.
I believe (possibly incorrectly) CA opens the hood to verify approximate factory emissions equipment being there.
I got away with two huge cats, one per side on that dodge truck, and two mufflers further down.
I was able to pass ONLY in closed loop, after the vehicle warmed up. I couldn't pass on a cold start no matter what I did, but obviously thats easy to fix. Drive around for a short while before going to the DMV facility.
Yeah they do an open the hood check here in Cali which sucks. If there were no smog laws I would build it up and have a Weiland 8-71 supercharger sitting on that thing with dual carbs and a scoop coming through the hood! I figure a 514 stroker kit would be a good way to boost some horsepower and be stealthy. I can always add a Vortech centrifugal on there as well, but I'm hearing that these are only good for the stock setup.
I also want to turn my efi 460 into a 514 when it needs rebuilt. I talked a Ford delaer about the stroker kit from Ford and they said that it would work fine as long as you got bigger injectors and a custom chip to make it all run right. An efi 514 would be an awsome motor.

Yeah it would! Since I need to rebuild it anyways soon I figured just spend the extra $1500 bucks and get the kit. Do you know what size injectors they say to use?
I don't think a stroker is on the menu for my just yet. I don't have the experience or money to do that just yet. I am interested in putting a supercharger in it eventually though. Found one from Vortech, but not sure if a stock motor will be up to the task. If anyone knows one way or the other, please let me know. (142K miles meticulously serviced)
The Vortech's are made for the stock engine. You should be fine running it for now. The 460's get tons of miles out of them if cared for. I have 175,000 on mine and still runs strong. Its my tranny thats the problem.
That's nice to know, and the admonition about the tranny is duly noted. I had an 89 F-150 with a rebuilt 302 and I loved it, but absolutely hated the fact that the torque converter was crapping out. So what did I do? I sold it to a young kid and bought myself a 93 F-250. I own it, but now it's time to make it MINE!
No kidding, I'd say I used to have simpler tastes when I was a little guy, but let's face it, I was never a little guy. I came out with a full head of hair wanting to pull a motorcycle behind a pick-up truck. Now if I could just afford to spice up the truck AND buy a motorcycle. There aren't a lot of cheap cruising bikes out there. Of course the head first 100mph death machines are all bargain priced, but who wants one of those? I just want a nice lookin cruiser that won't cost me more than my truck.

Yeah no kidding! My dream bike would be a dynaglide lowrider or a fatboy! But I sure don't have 20K for a bike. I think I will just have to settle for the sportster. A little off topic here but motorcycles are cool!
I know that the stock injectors are 24 lb/hr, I think they make 30 lb/hr injectors, I bet those would be close but I am just guessing. best bet would be to call a company that makes injectors and ask them. Having the heads ported would definitly be worth it. i have heard that the stock heads have a lot of room for improvement.
