I bought the Mud Rat for my 14 and a half year old son. Yes, I'm crazy, but I blame it on the blood pressure pills.
1979 F 350, 351/M400 (two motors), 4 speed manual trans and transfer case(two each), Dana 60's on both ends , four drive shafts, six inch Skyjacker frame lift, three inch body lift, 9500 lb Ramsey, TSL 44 Boggers.
It's in the garage on jack stands, down to the frame and drive train. He's working on the frame.
Here's the QUESTION: Both the metal ID tag found in the defroster duct(lost by someone) and the door jamb sticker show a VIN beginning with F36HCFE.
The metal ID tag is also stamped F 360.
Could this be a double misprint or was there really an F 360 built?
man, i wish my dad would have been that supportive of my wheeling needs. although i did get to play with guns and race go-karts and muscle cars......i guess we're even.
Gosh your son is lucky! Oh well i'm 15 and I have a 79 f150 and a 77 F150 so i guess Im pretty lucky myself. If you could, post some pics, this would be cool to see.
My pappy was always nice enough to share his shoes and belt with me - right across my back. Would have been nice to have seen him do something constructive once in a blue moon like FIX something.
Ahhhh, Yep I am saving "Rollin Thunder" for my son. He has a long way to go, he's only 4 but that will be sweet when he turn's 18 to watch him drive it down the road!!!
To all,
I am a 51 year old Professional Engineer. My formal computer training began in 1971 using Fortran 4 with punch cards. There was no such thing as a direct access terminal. I have never been good with computers and, at my age, I would rather turn wrenches than learn software.
To 79 driver,
The rules say I am not allowed to post pictures. If I were allowed, I couldn't figure out how to do it. However, I can rebuild an underground mine approved Deutz diesel from scratch.
To Mil1ion,
The metal VIN tag reads exactly as follows
F36HCFFE5586 Y XA 14
F360 24 K
The 360 is in reference to the Body/Axle/Chassis weight capacity on the F-350 4x4 regular cab suspension.
Do you see anything that says 9600 or 9800 ?
or 4500 & 5300 ?
To Mil1ion,
The sticker on the driver side door jamb has the same VIN number and lists a GVW of 8550. Don't worry about the origional question. I'm happy with the truck. I was just curious.
Thanks
Mud Rat
