Wow if they put a 300 mated to a GOOD 5spd manual w/manual lockout hubs, I would go order one right now. It would be red, blue or black, w/a bench seat and an AM/FM radio as the only option.
Just to clarify. The Traiblazer's engine is an I5.
The 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer (spelled with an "l") uses a 4.2-liter, inline 6-cylinder Vortec engine with 275 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 275 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. The result of this inline configuration is superior balance, which virtually eliminates shake and idle roll. 4-speed automatic transmission is standard.
Well they arent called S-10's, Colorado or something like that. A friend of mine(yes unfortunately I have friends like this) that just bought one. When you open up the hood all you see is a huge plastic piece, you cant see the motor whatsoever.
Its a shame, but if you honestly look at the newer 1/2 tons, they really arent made to work like they used to be...
Really? Have you looked at a 2004 F-150? Everything about this truck- frame, brakes, springs, suspension- is bigger, heavier, stronger than any F-150 in history. It can tow as much as a 250. It has the biggest cargo box of any Ford. So what is it about the truck that's not "made to work like they used to be?"

Maybe they were thinking of the Super Crew with the short bed. That configuration does seem to be more of the "soccer mom" type.
I do agree, the current F150 is the strongest yet.
I remember watching 270 inch GMC I6's smoke Chev and Ford V8's on short tracks. The 6's put out a bunch of torgue and could pull away coming out of the corners.
Speaking of inlines, they were pulling 1200 HP from from little I4 Offenhausers before new rules finally finished a GREAT engine.
Dono
No manual transmission, too much plastic, 18inch wheels are you kidding me? Too plush. Yeah it has big brakes and springs, because it needs it, its too darn heavy for a 1/2 ton, and not enough power. Ford used to put 460 torque monsters in the 1/2 tons, now the biggest engine we can get is a 330cid???? Ford has really become lax when it comes to the 1/2 truck market and I fear sooner or later its gonna bite em in the butt. Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, and now Nissan are offering stiff competition. When I look at the new F-150's I do not see a work truck. JMHO
