Help!! EGR Nightmare
A local shop has replaced the thermostat, DPFE sensor, and the EGR solenoid. The CEL came on again and the local shop said that the EEC needs to be re-flashed and that we should take it to the dealer.
The dealer has finised the work to the tune of $600. The work included a de-carbon of the EGR rail, re-programming the EEC and replacing the EGR solenoid.
Does this sound fishy to anyone?? Why would the EGR solenoid need to be replaced again? Would the de-carbon job involve pulling the manifold?
Any input is appreciated as I need to pick up the truck this afternoon.
Wish I had found this site sooner.
Thanks!
