I Need a set of lower Coil Spring bushings on my 87 F250 DSL. I went to Ford and they said they don't make them any more. A friend of mine said to get them for a 99 Ford F350 and they should be about the same. Any help would be appreciated.
It has Twin I-Beam Suspension and the piece looks like a round piece of rubber that goes under the spring in the spring mount on the I-Beams; I have already broke a Coil spring and wanted to get the bushings put in at the same time as the new springs.
Any pointers on how to change the springs and bushings without a spring compressor would be welcome also; a friend said to sit the truck on jack stands and to remove the front shocks then let the I-Beam down until it stops, then jack it back up one stroke on the jack and remove the bottom mount. He said that should let the tension off the spring.
your friend is right. 30-45 minute job. jack up the truck from the frame. take off the tire. jack stand under axle. let the truck down on it. remove bottom shock bolt, top coil retainer bolt. jack up truck easy till spring pops out(you may have to push down on the axle a little). then take out the nut in side on the bottom of the coil. if you have a plow you need to take of the brace first. as for the bushings if you cant find them just get a piece of rubber & cut 2 out. energy suspension should have them. good luck
