I have a 96 f150 ext. cab with a 5.8 engine. I realize that I have an OBD-2 system and exhaust modifications can be critical. I have been trying to find a manifold to cat setup(preferably direct fit) on the internet. I have inquired to DMI and have looked at a few from catalytic converters.com. I would prefer a hi flow set up. There is a setup from catcon.com part# 9650 for 88-94 5.8's. It does not have the "bung" at the outlet of the converter for the rear o2 sensor. If I added the sensor to this setup would my computer recognize this setup or would I have problems? There are many replacement cats on the market but I don't have much faith in most of my local pipe jockeys. If I could find an original "Y" pipe with factory dual inline cat setup that I could modify to suit my needs I would prefer to go that route. Any info anyone could provide would be very valuable. Thank you. JC Fudala
You can have a bung welded into the pipe for the 2nd O2 sensor. They make dummy O2 sensors, but your better off keeping it functional. You can use a universal high-flow cat for the 2nd one, nothing special about that, I got one from summit racing for 60 bucks. So basically you're looking for a Y-pipe, I believe borla has some. Look for major companies like borla and distributers like summit, jegs, truckperformance...etc etc
