Re: Window Motor
I got the motor out, opened it up and there was a bunch of gravel in the grease. "Well carp, that might be it..." I said... so I cleaned it out, but didn't have grease, so I tried it as it was (not spotless, but the gravel was out), no go. So today I got down to autozone, got my grease, came back, opened the motor up and packed it (first not so well, then really really well)... it's quieter now, and it rolls down half way really smooth, but as soon as the window gives resistance it stops.
I think the spindle is just spinning in the plastic part, is there a way to replace just that, or am I going to have to order a whole new motor?
Texas weather is pretty harsh on soft materials (thus why my last set got hard and shattered into fine gravel-sized pieces)... so I'm worried about how long this set will last... I don't want to be replacing these things every couple years if I can find a better alternative...
I believe someone here suggested fishing weights, the only thing I'm not sure about there is wear on other components... how long have you been using those weights??
I still want to know the nylon spacer bit though. I can only assume the material lasts longer in other (more stable) climates... but it sucks here. (hot, cold, wet, dry... who knows, this is texas...)
