Question Digital or analog gauges?

Has anyone noticed any more reliability or accuracy with analog or digital gauges?
Any of them easier to install or read?

I think that in general an analog gauge is easier to read out of the corner of your eye without taking focus from the road. Same is true for digital watch versus analog, quick glance gives you a good rough idea of the time versus having to really focus on the digital watch.

I have the X-Monitor from BD-Power and am very happy with it. It displays all three measurements, EGT, Boost, Tranny temp, in one gauge and also keeps track of the maximum value reached since the last reset. It will also flash the display should you exceed the alarm value you set for any of the three measurements.

Can't speak to the accuracy of the X-Monitor versus an analog meter. The X reads with greater precision, but is it more accurate? I don't know.

Seems to me that there are less parts to break in an analog gauge and therefore high reliability for the same design practice. That said, I still went with the X-Monitor.

One great thing about the X is that it is more compact and you get to keep your door pillar handle.

Most companies that offer both electronically will use the same sender....Most companies shy away from digital because its harder for people to process what the numbers mean at a glance..thats why corvettes got rid of the digital tach in the late 80's...people could not easily visualize when to shift as they can with a sweeping analog gauge... Id have to say they are = with the exception that digital is easier to read fractions of a value...but then again I dont care that my analog gauge looks like about 30PSI of boost instead of the actual 29.987654 psi thats actually there...

IMO the delta between to the two is negligible, so.........the analog is easier to read.
