gas milage

hi all:
looking for some opinions ......

i have a "new" (oct 03) 96 150 302 e40d 67K 4x4 3.55rear .. tow package. i haul an above the cab camper shell (11 in.)with all the camping equip (topper and equip weighs in at about 700lbs). it has had a recent tune-up...

i've been trying to squeeze gas milage out of this thing...i know it's not famous for that but.....on the last 400 mile trip i managed 14.2 overall. there were some mountains involved but not major....

just trying to get all the details in..........

my question is do you think i can help it much (1-2 mpg) by changing the 02 sensor or do think it is about peaked out?

thanks for your views on the matter

Well I'd start with a complete tune up. If your O2 sensor hasn't been changed in 50K, that would be a good idea.

Not bad. I was getting 15.5 empty when stock. With 33's and a high flow CAT and 3" exhaust I'm getting 13-13.5

A good tune up and install an aftermarket air filter, like a K&N, helped mine.
