i put a cd player in my truck and when i turned the light on all my dash lights went out i looked at the fuses there good i looked at the lights and there good to what could be wrong
The stock radio had a blue wire with red stripe to light it up when the lights came on. Is this wire hooked into the new stereo? It shouldn't be. Check that first.
I ran the constant hot from the radio to a fuse that has constant power regardless of the key position. Then find a fuse that only has power when the key is turned to the "on" position. Run the wire that turns the radio on to that fuse. Then make sure you have the ground wire hooked up to bare metal. Scrape the paint and use sand paper to rough the metal just a little. I don't like to use the same screw for more than one ground. I have a different screw for each ground when I put stereo's in. Then just run the speaker wire according to the instructions on the radio. Alot of the radio's I install have a warning that says not to shorten the wires from the radio. This may not apply to yours though. Unless you run an amp or power antenna you shouldn't need to use the remote turn on which is usually blue but it may be yellow or purple also. Make sure the end of that wire is covered. If the problem still occurs then it is not the stereo, it may have been one of the wires you originally used or maybe it was just time for the electrical gremlins to come out and play. Someone on here once told me the wiring used in our trucks has a service life just long enough to outlast the warrenty. Maybe it is time to check all the wiring. I hope this helps.
