Well, after bragging in the high milage, no problems thread, I have developed a vibration and a squeeking noise which can only be heard when the windows are down and traveling 10mhp or less. The vibration can only be felt when accelerating from a stop. I'm thinking driveshaft, bearings, u-joints, something like that. Question: I just turned 37500 miles today, will I be expected to foot the entire bill or will most dealers work with you when repair work is needed this close to the warranty expiring. I'm just curious about what to expect when I take it in this week. Thanks.
Depends on where you take it.. If it's the Dealer that has been servicing since new, or a good portion of the time, they might absorb the cost of the repair or even possible warranty, or at least a "shared" expense.. We have had a few repairs completely covered under warranty (but outside the mileage limits) and others done in Fords "Customer Satifaction" program.. We just had an 02 Explorer "Trac Lock" rear end rebuilt/sealed, and the ticket would have been 500.00..Ford billed us 150.00 under the Satifaction program.. If the dealer values your buisness, they'll work with you..
Dealer relplaced two u-joints, carrier bearing and shim kit at no cost and even thanked me for my business when I left. All smiles here!
Can you share the Dealer's Name/City ect.. May need to get some service/repair if I'm ever traveling in your area!! Glad to here they backed you up.... "GOOD JOB FORD"
I have read some other posts where the slip joint on the drive shaft is very poorly lubed on some trucks. As with many of the Ford products, there is not much in the way of Zerx fittings to get some grease in. Anybody got any documentation on what can be greased and what cannot? What do you use to replace the crimp on bands on the rubber boot over the slip joint?
