360 down to 302

360 down to 302
Bought a '68 F100 as a project for my son and I. Has a tired 360 in it right now. Gas milage SUCKS. Was looking at going to a 390 but after talking to some friends they suggested looking at going down a size or so. had a 69 'Stang with a 302 and drove it to &%$# and gone. Lookijng for a good reliable vehicle to give him when we are done and I DON'T want to buy his gas. What do you all think? Oh, presently 360, C6.

It's all a matter of preferance.. The 302 can be swapped in, but yuo will need a tranny too. May that engine be too small? Would it end up costing the same as sticking with the 360? What motor do you want in there and how do you want it to perform. Because it's your son's, the 302 might be a good choice. How about a 351m, or build up the 360 to perform better.
