Hey Guys and Gals,

I have a 93 Explorer Sport with the 5-speed M5R1 Mazda transmission. It started whining a couple of months ago and I think it needs a rebuild. Its been parked since to prevent permanent damage.
Where is the best online resource for rebuild kits for these transmissions? I have seen prices from 250 to over 300 for these kits.
Any additional info would be appreciated.

There is a shop in Phoenix that you might check. I forgot their name. Where have you found kits at so far?

 

I have the same vehicle, but I am not sure about the transmission. It started shifting hard and making noise and we had the tranny fluid (ATF) changed and the brake fluid for the clutch changed and all is fine now. It had moisture in the brake fluid from not enuf driving this winter. My daughter had it at school and did not use it enuf. If it had been here I would have changed the fluids.
