Power upgrade on 6.0

It sounds like the new 2005 superduties with the 6.0 will have a boost in torque to 610 to beat dodges 600 and GMs 590 ft. llbs. My question is this. Do we need any more power. Ford wants to protect its lead over the competition. Ford owns 45% of the heavy duty market with the rest split between Dodge and GM. I remember when the original powerstroke came out in mid 1994. The difference between that and the stock 7.3 was night and day. Ford gained the immediate lead in the diesel wars. Dodge and Ford. GM had nothing to compete until the duramax in 2001. When will they say enough is enough. 800lbs torque 700h.p. Whats your thoughts on the matter. Thanks for any replies.

I was thinking the same thing. I think we have enough power, now they should start making them more fuel efficient.

Pure blasphemy! When diesel was $1.40/gallon nobody was talking efficiency, but gobs o' paaar. I'm pretty happy that I can keep my foot out of it and get 18+ on such a large truck. I also like the look on Cheby owners faces when they choke on the exhaust, and the two black asphalt stripes in the rearview. 700HP + 800ft/lbs, I'm starting to salivate at the thought..

I think the main problem with increasing the power is the cost of repairs. My 1997 is fully capable of performing to capacity, but I have to admit a new truck is enticing, but I plan on keeping mine at least until 250K.
