ok heres my story, did a tune-up about 7 months ago (new plugs, wires etc.)
about 3 months after, it starts misfiring. so i took it to ECHELON FORD in stratford nj who told me it was #3 and the wires. now i cannot understand how this is possible only after 3 months. it gets better---they tell me that they cannot get the spark plug out and they would need to take the entire head off if the plug breaks. i told them i put the plugs in and had no problem when they went in. i think they are trying to get me for some cash. anyway ---can anybody tell me where #3 is on a 99 f150 4.6?
someone like racerguy would be a better source but i suggest you soak the plug well with penetrating oil, take it real slow and pull the plug. since it's beeen just 7 months, the plug has not corroded. Maybe they have reason to think the #3 plug was cross threaded or ? if plug went in straight just 7 months ago, it ought to come out easy
Any luck yet?
I would maybe try removing the plug carefully but if it wont turn easily I would stop until you're ready to tear it apart just in case it doesn't come out.
You possiblely over torqued and stretched the thread causing it to strip out backing it out. Alumunin theads will stetch if over torgued. seen it many times in a machine shop.
