The other night my son got hsi first deer--in my 1980 Bronco. Initially, it seemed as if the damage was cosmetic; the deer was strcuk on the drivers side just below the eheadlight, with the bumper tqakign most of the impact. the front fender is crumpled, jammed back against the door so that the dirver's door can only be opened 6 inches. I removed the bumper, grill, upper and lower valances and the headlight bezel and headlamp. I noticed the radiator support is jammed backwards several inches and on the inside of the engine compartment the inner fender--I guess that is what it is called--is crumpled somewhat. Surprisingly hter ewere no leaks and it still drives well. I am concernd because when I go to replace the outer fender it will not align to the bent inner fender. I have sources for the radiator support and outer fender--that is no problem--but I don't know where to go for the inner fender if that needs to be replaced. No catalogs I have list this part.
Local junk yards have been no help in the past when I have tried to get salvaged Bronc parts, claiming the few Broncs they have had are picked over the remains too rusted to be of any use.
Is there a way I can remove that inner fender after I take off the outer fender and straighten it?
Sorry to hear about the damage. were you able to scrounge up a good meal out of the deal, like some steaks.
Too bad you're not in my area. there is a wrecking yard close to where I live that has about 10 Broncos, if not more. And a few has somewhat good fenders & other body parts. Other than that I'm not much a body person, Unless she is willing. sorry just had to.
Jeff's Bronco Graveyard would be a source for new fenders as would JC Whitney. These of course are new. There are also sources for fiberglass flared fenders (~ $390/pair).
