Question carb question

i have a 1982 f-100 with a 351 w / bought the motor from a friend he said it came out of a police crusier ( i have no idea). the problem is when it sits over night it is very hard to start. i have not seen a carb. like the one on this one, it has sliding plates on top that retract when you give it gas. how does the choke work on this? any idea would be very helpful, thanks all

The carb is a variable venturi and has over 100 adjustments and uses a dial indicator to set up. The "choke" is actually a cold enrichment rod setting, and they were prone to sticking, but if somebody has been bending or adjusting on things without knowing what's going on it could take quite a bit to put it back in order.

i'd swap to a holley (my preference) or edelbrock carb and get rid of whatever you have...just my 2 cents, goin off what Fordtech1 said...
