Explorer hesitates when hot

My 1992 Explorer with the 4.0L V6 runs normal during the night (I'm guessing it's cool) and during non-traffic conditions on the freeway but during go/stop traffic (notice vehicle is getting hot) it starts to spudder or hesitate. It does this intermittenly and only during go/stop traffic. The vehicle feels like it's either not getting fuel or an electrical signal cuts off for a short while. After resting the car for a few minutes, the car runs great for a while. I've already changed the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs/wires. Any help would be great.

Welcome to FTE

I would begin by pulling the codes (if there are any) and check the operation of the heat riser system. Autozone will pull them for free in anticipation of your buying parts from them.

The temp gauge moves slightly pass the middle between cool and hot. I'm wondering if I need to change my thermostat or IAC. More response would be cool. Another thing with the problem is that it feels like the car pauses (no power for a split second) but it still idles. The vehicle would sometime spudder before it dies out. It starts right away and sometimes the problem disappears or lingers a little while longer. Once it cools, the engine runs great. Thanks for the responses. Keep it coming.
