auto to man tranny

Alright I have a 92 ranger 4.0 4x4 auto that keeps burning up the a4ld. I have already put three in and now I am ready for a manual. I have a donor bronco 2 4x4 and I was wondering if there is anything I need to do with the computer in my ranger or if everything should hook up the same. The trannies have the same fist gear 2.47 but the rear ends are different with 3.45 in the bronc and 3.27 in the ranger. It is the first tranny conversion for me but a guy has to start somewhere right? Removing and installing the auto I can do sleeping but I just wanted to check and see if anyone had any good advice for me. thanks in advance for any help!

You might went to find a donore truck a little closer to the year of your truck because there is some wireing that might not swap.{Not real sure on that}You wiii need yo swap the floor board panel {the 1 under the shifter} from the donoe tk,they are a bolt on swap.The clutch and brake pedales off the donoe tk{ a REAL PAIN to swap!!}all the hydraulic for the clutch.The flywheel off the doner truck and the 6 bolts for it they are diffrent then the flexplat ones.Get it seviced and a new clutch kit{all the parts you need to replacr the clutch},All that is about $200.00 at NAPA.Also get a GOOD repair manuan ,yes you will need it.Dont get in a real big hurry and be prepaired to be with out your truck for a while this is not a overnite job un less you are a darn good mach. GOOD LUCK !!Have fun,and most of all BE SAFE!!!!{use jack stands}

Tou didnt say but if the donor truck has a manual t-case and hubs use them too.

thanks! the donor truck is 4x4 and everthing worked till i jumped the timing.but the ranger is my baby so i figured i would use the bronc 2 since i paid only 20$ for it. I have a haynes repair manual for ranger/bronco 2 from 83 to 92 . I already swaped my auto lock outs for manuals since the autos( stock autos), dont hold up in the mud. the ranger has already been down for 2 months since i busted my arm 4 wheelin on a sportsman 500. So is it possible to mickey mouse the wiring if it doesnt swap right? I understand it would require more experience than i currently have but I am learning and have plenty of time so If it can be done I have nothing to lose trying. thanks a bunch for the input and dont worry I have three and a half ton stands under my baby. bout saw my father inlaw crushed using some kmart speacial ton and half junk. THANKS again for all input

I almost got crushed lifting my Ranger with a brand new, no-name brand, 3 ton floor jack. Barely lifted the truck, I went to slide under real quick and it eased back down on it's own. The actual metal bent on the stupid thing. When I returned it and showed them how it broke, she said "Do you want to exchange it for another one?" I said "It could've crushed my head and killed me, what do you thing?" Then, the stupid women still tried to defend the product and said, "Well we've never had one break before though..."
Morons....
Sorry to rant on a totally unrelated subject. I also use jackstands now too...
