Truck engine shake.

I have a 98 f-150 v6 4.6L. Lately its been acting up. While driving, truck starts shaking, engine light comes on and I pull over, shut truck off and restart. Once I restart shaking stops still notice hesitation but runs ok. Code for the check engine light says cyclinders 1 and 6 misfire. I 've put new coil pack, two oxygen sensors and 7 hrs labor by local gargage. I've disconnected ERG ? as a test and this didn't work. Does anybody have any clues

I would put new plugs and wires on it before I went any farther. I would also recommend using Motorcraft parts. They cost a little more, but they are a much better quality and will last a lot longer than the cheaper aftermarket stuff.

On something like that, when you have cylinder misfires, the FIRST thing you do is CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS. A fouled plug is the easiest, cheapest, and most common cause of a misfire.

To check if the ignition system is working, pull the #1 spark plug and hold it about 1/4 inch from the engine block and have someone else crank the engine. If you see a spark, the ignition system is working. If not, then start with wires before replacing the coil pack.

If you are getting a spark, or that doesn't work, then you move on to other things. Fuel injection would be my next bet. Try some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and see if it fixes it. Beyond that, have the shop check and make sure the injectors are functioning properly.

Hope this helps!
