hello, i have a 96 bronco, the odometer and trip meter is not working, ive looked in books and i cannot find the wiring for it, im thinking a wire got pinched and snipped under the vehical but i cannot find where its at or how it works, can anyone help, thanks
Does the speedometer needle work? If so, you're looking at replacing the PSOM (speedometer/odometer unit). If not, and the ABS light is on, consider the ABS sensor on the rear axle or the wiring going from there to the cluster. Also check the fuses, including the underhood fuses. I've had the underhood fuses wiggle loose and kill the PSOM before.
That sensor on the back is what controls your shift points by knowing the speed of the truck.. With no sensor the computer thinks the truck is sitting still.
yea, its my dads truck, it doesnt get drivin much, hes over in france for the year, i jus drive it down the street to the store everynow and then, he jsut put a new gas tank in it and maybe accidently knocked the plug loose, it shifts around 3500 rpm, and shifts like its got a shift kit in it, i didnt wanna mess with anything on it
I can't really say if it will or not. I can only guess that it can't be good? If its just the sensor connection you can't hurt anything by trying to hook it back up.
