1. Both lower brakelights do not work when the brake pedal is depressed.
2. The upper brakelight does work when the pedal is depressed.
3. I inspected the lamps in the lower light assemblies and they looked fine. Just in case, I swapped out with a new lamp and the problem did not go away.
4. The parking lights (same lamp as brakelights but uses a different filament) work fine.
The vehicle is a '97 Eddie Bauer and runs well otherwise. I'd appreciate any ideas that others may have on this problem-
Tilt the columb up and check them. If they still dont work its likely the multifunction switch is defective. If they start working its likely that the wiring is pulled out at the back of the multifunction switch. If it was a bad switch or broken wire at the switch the high mount would not work either. So from there the path leads to the multifunction switch.
