I recently drove cross-country and made it 3/4 of the way before I stopped for lunch, came back out, and noticed a huge puddle of coolant underneath the front end. Looked like it was leaking from the bottom corner, drivers side of the engine, looks like a gasket problem but not sure which one. I see what looks like to be the "freeze plug" but that doesn't appear to be leaking. Also, it doesn't appear to be leaking internally. Anyway, I used Aluma-Seal as a quick fix and made it the rest of the way, as a matter of fact, it hasn't leaked since and the coolant has been at normal levels. Any ideas? Should I still be concerned even though it stopped leaking? Also, what do freeze plugs do?
