Electric Fans

What is the difference between a pusher and puller electric fan? And does the electric fans really free up 15 hp and get better mpg? How many cfm's are needed to cool a 4.0L in my 98 explorer?

The fan can face one way and draw air through the rad or reverse the fan blade & Push the air through the rad.
