1992 transmission problem

have a 1992 ford explorer transmission problem when shifter is in reg drive works fine when shifter is is over drive position engine changes a little but no drive

I assume you are saying that there is little rpm change at highway speeds between D and OD. You are also taching well over 3K at 65. I've had both problems, stripped star washer and weld break on the OD planetary. I don't know why I even mention it, but the OD section in this transmission is really easy to fix for a neophite. That is if you don't mind pulling a transmission.

the problem is when you shift to overdrive position on shifter at stand still taking off there is nothing no go but if you put shifter in next drive position it goes fine.
