Holley 2bbl Carb last update
I posted earlier about what I was doing to increase the fuel milage on my 1970 F250 4x2 with a 360, C6 and 3.54 gears. In the begining the truck was getting 7.7 mpg for commuting. The Holley carb is a two bbl and jet size was #73. I dropped down to #69, #67, #65, #63 all with improved fuel milage. However, when I went to the #63 jets the engine started surging at hiway speeds (65-70mph) I went back up to the #65. I also changed out the power valve to a 6.5 " The milage now is at 9.6 mpg for commuting and the surging is gone. I took the truck out for a hiway drive and got 12.5 mpg. This is great with just a jet/power valve change. The engine runs smoother, starts better and is smoother on excelleration. I also installed the Pertronix ignition module. Next will be the flame thrower coil and a set of wires. Thanks again to all who helped with imput in my earlier post. Hope this helps others who have the same setup.
