Engine tests on used psdiesel

I recently purchased a 2000 Ford F-250 powerstroke with 84,000 miles. The truck runs very good and gets 16 mpg in town and does not smoke.I had the transmission serviced and it checked out good on the scanner. Not knowing anything about diesel engines I took it in to have it checked. They scanned it and performed a cylinder contribution test that was good.A blow by test was also done which it failed. They said it should be 2-psi or less and that it tested 5-psi. One of the latches on the air cleaner cover was broken therefore allowing dust to bypass the air filter. My questions are? 1.This engine is down on power by what percent? 2.Is this engine good for 10,000-50,000 or 100,000 miles? 3.Should I put gauges on it like I was going to do and drive it until it blows up? 4.Is engine to weak for a programmer? 5. What is a cylinder contribution test? 6. I plan on testing the oil on next change. Thanks in advance for any information. jetbote

Tell them to do the crankcase blow by test using a Magnahelic gauge measured in inches of water. Make sure they cap off the vent tube before running the test. 0-4 in is in spec 5-6 and up is pushin it, over 6 u have some issues. BTW who is doing the tests on the engine? Seems odd that w/ only 84k on the ticker they r telling u the engine is "down".
