Lightbulb exhaust system change

As you know I have a 98 ford F250 with the 4.6 and will shortly need to change my exhaust system du to a leak... so I was wondering what set up I should go for... true dual with a 2.1/2 inch pipe or a two into one with a three inch pipe.. either setup will include a set of headers...I'm leaning towards two to one setup to ensure even back pressure and less cost$....

I would recommend the 2 into 1 with 3" pipe. If you run true duals, the drivers side will have to cross over to clear the gas tank which will make it longer than the passengerside and it would be unbalanced.
I would also just run 2 highflow cats instead of the 4 factory units.

Thanks ..that's were I was kind of leaning toward... do you know if there is any header clearence issues? or will I have to go to a pipe bender?

A good quality header should fit with no problem.

Got a question guys, I have dual exhaust on y 2000 5.4 f-150. It's a Borla muffler. I want something louder. Has many of you have said Ford has 2 pre cats?, and then 2 cats. I spent too much money on my borla muffler and wasn't impressed with the loudness. I like the deep tone it has though. Basically I want somethin louder, with the same muffler. I don't want to mess with headers and all that stuff. I'm thinking about gutting the the cats and putting ina dummy O2 sensor. I have herd if you remove the cats it will make you loose too much low end. Anyone heard this?????

You will lose low end torque by eliminating backpressure. I would recommend removing all 4 stockers and install 2 high flow cats.

if sound levels are your main concern here you could also try cutting back the tailpipe about a foot and installing some different tips. If you don't go TOO large you should be able to maintain your torque at low end while being able to change your tone. problem is the tips will do just that...likely change your tone but not actually make it louder.

They have manifolds, then 2 02 sensors, then 2 preheaters (converters), then 2 converters, then 2 after cat 02 sensors (that tell the PCM if the cats are properly working) then into the Y pipe.

if ford would only put cats on them instead of the preheaters as well they would have a few more ponies.
